Curtis Frisbie is a full time trout guide on the Yakima River in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State at Red's Fly Shop. The Yak is a technical and challenging fishery that leaves many DIY anglers and less ambitious guides licking their wounds at day's end. Fall through winter Curtis shifts gears and guides steelhead on the rugged Klickitat River in south central Washington with a mix of both two-handed and single-hand rod techniques. Same goes for his winter gig on the Washington coast. Guides here must be proficient with all strategies.
On the river he is easy to spot with his upland dog and best pal, Ryder, often pointing fish and sitting shotgun. Curtis finds fish and success no matter where he is. Whether it's pursuing a tropical Grand Slam or on a freezing steelhead river, his background as a high-level athlete and determined nature feed success. For all of his angling prowess however, Curtis has a contagious laugh and knows when to chill out and just have some fun too. His skill set and passion for everything fly fishing is in one word, legit.
